RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Under our conditions AOAA inhibits pyridoxal phosphokinase
approximately 50% at a concentration of 10-s M. Figure 1 shows that concentrations of
AOAA as low as lo-* M inhibited pho~ ho~~ tion of pyridoxal by rat liver and that over 90% of
the enzyme activity was abolished at a concentration of 10-4 M AOAA when pyridoxal was
used as substrate. The emyme activity was unaffected by a concentration of AOAA as high
as 10-s M when pyridoxamine was substituted
